Plain-end weight, calculated. Mill weights vary within the tolerance of the pipe specification.

What OD and wall mean

Pipe cross-section, outside diameter OD and wall thickness tODt (wall)
How to read the chart. OD is the outside diameter, fixed for each nominal size. The schedule sets the wall thickness t, so bore = OD − 2t.

STD weight per metre calculated for carbon steel with the B36.10M formula. Sch 5S and 10S apply to stainless (B36.19M).

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

What is the difference between Schedule 40 and Schedule 40S?

Schedule 40 is from ASME B36.10M for carbon and alloy steel; 40S is from B36.19M for stainless. They match up to 10 inch. At 12 inch, Sch 40 is 10.31 mm while 40S is 9.53 mm.

How is pipe weight per metre calculated?

For carbon steel, kg/m = 0.02466 x (OD − wall) x wall, with OD and wall in mm. Other materials scale by density, which the calculator does for you.
